Beast of London

Story:

Part 1     Part 2     Part 3

The Creature was only acting in its own interest when it caught up with the stalker.  In a desperate fight for survival, the two monsters lunged at each other, before plunging into the murky depths of the Thames.   The rest (as they say) is history

I think that at first glance, you could be forgiven for mistaking this piece of makeup for a foam rubber appliance, however we created this special make-up effect  not only for a fraction of the price, but also utilising only simple materials and uncomplicated methods.

In essence, the picture opposite is nothing more than a simple latex slush cast. What makes this piece visually stunning is that we designed the original sculpture around a life cast of the actor's features, so it fits like a second skin.

I learned a lot from this piece. It was one of our best project pieces at the time. From initial draft design, through lifecasting, sculpture and final casting to rendering a finished (applied) product; we completed the whole process in just 4 days.

Life mask for creature make-up.

Nicky not only wore the appliance, but was also the make-up artist on the mask itself.
